Cosmic sneeze inbound, get me a tissue. SFG’s Widget’s Odyssey II review

widget-2

This summer, Frima Studio has been busy. They have already brought us two very good titles in the PlayStation Minis category. The first was a bite sized puzzle/platforming little gem titled Widget’s Odyssey, and the second was the highly anticipated side scroller called Young Thor. Both of the titles offered their monies worth, and oozed color and charm.

Now to end their Summer of the Mini, Frima brings us the conclusion to Widget’s Odyssey, with Widget’s Odyssey II. Widget’s Odyssey II follows the exploits of our 5 heroic robots (Spad, Bruce, Cosmo, Helmut, and Monk) aboard their trusty ship the S-pace, as they engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse, with the evil Yagor.

The game plays out through a collection of timed puzzle/platforming mini-games using a different character, whose special abilities let them transverse the colorful levels on different planets. The levels will having you going in every direction possible. You will be collecting loot, fighting the many different bad guys, working your way through the puzzles, and collecting clues to help bring down Yagor.

The real gem here, as with all Frima titles, is their charm and humor. To tell the story, there are animated cut scenes between  the levels. They are very colorful, the animation is tight, and they are funny. There is something about Frima’s games that I always seem to get a smile on my face when I play them, and that is what gaming is all about…fun.

Widget’s Odyssey II is now available on the PSN  for both PS3 and PSP, for the whopping price of $1.99, and it is well worth the price. I give Widget’s Odyssey II a solid 8/10. Both episodes can be had for less than $4.00 which is pretty good deal for the titles. Please support your indie developer and here is a link to their website.
