“Get Back” to the Beatles IQ Challenge

Last year on 9 cubed (09/09/09,) the invasion started all over again. The four mop topped lads from Liverpool, were about to make a come back. The Beatles were going to re-re-re-re-release all their music on high quality re-mastered disks, and the for the first time their music was to be featured in a game.

The magicians over at Harmonix, in conjunction with the help of the remaining Beatles and family, producers, and Abbey Road studios, brought us Beatles Rock Band. It was a pain staking process that involved many flights to England, and having to work some magic to separate the master tracks. The finished product turned out to be a master piece, and it shows it was a labor of love. It set the bar for visual and audio fidelity in a music game, and brought us harmonies that the Beatles were famous for.

I have to admit, Beatles Rock Band was the very first game I pre-ordered. I wanted to make sure I could walk in first thing, and get my copy, get home, and start playing. The re-mastered albums sounded fantastic, but the game sounded even better. You could pick up little things you were never able to hear before, and breathed new life into the already classic music. Many hours have been played, DLC purchased, and it was worth every penny.

While the fans and I wait for an announcement of future DLC for B:RB, there may be hope. Harmonix recently released the Beatles IQ Challenge 2. It is a trivia quiz, that plays out like a game of whack-a-mole. This is how you play the game.

The visually stunning opening cinematic of the Beatles Rock Band plays, and stars will fly across your screen. You must keep a keen eye and possess quick mouse skills to click on the stars. When you click on a star, a question will pop up. You keep doing this until the intro ends, and if you have enough points you get to move on to level 2 and answer more questions. When you finish, you can share your results through all sorts of social media(facebook, twitter.)

If you are a fan, please support this. The support you show can speak volumes, and could possibly bring forth more Beatles DLC, and that is a good thing. Here is the linkĀ  http://www.thebeatlesrockband.com/iqchallenge2/ and if you are a music game fan and you have not purchased this game, immediately go to the corner and put on a dunce cap, so we can all shame you.
